- I would describe the fears and anxieties expressed by the commenters as common among people who live in the United States, especially those who live next to the Mexican border. I have lived near the Mexican border my entire life and have never really been afraid of immigrants coming into this country illegally; however I have met several people who fear that illegal immigrants that come into the United States will harm them in different ways. Some of the commenters from the Donald Trump article see the immigrants as a threat to the United States. Other commenters might be afraid of Donald Trump being president because they feel he is too stupid and too much of a hypocrite to be the president.
- The commenters value immigrant lives and believe they have the right to become U.S. citizens if they are well-deserving. One commenter talks about their mother and how hard she worked in order to gain citizenship and provide a better life for her family. Other commenters agree with Trump's argument against illegal immigrants. They believe that they do not deserve U.S. jobs and should not be allowed inside our country.
- One of the most reasonable commenters is Jake because he discusses the corruption of the Mexican government and how the people see rebellion as the only way to change it. BongBong also made a good point about how technology will take away numerous jobs from people who need them. Another reasonable commenter is Al'n because he uses his own personal story about his mother struggling to gain citizenship to support his argument for illegal immigration.
- One commenter who expresses her opinion about Trump was Gina. I found her untrustworthy because she did not support her comment with any information. She discussed how Trump should drop out of the election, but she does not give any evidence as to why he is a sick person and why people like him believe to be smarter than the average person.
In Ryan's World blog I learned that others also may have feared that Trump is capable of protecting people in the United States. I also learned that people who consider each side of an argument seem more reasonable than people who do not consider both sides.
In Summer of English I learned that people who have first hand experience with a certain topic are more reliable sources than those who do not have these experiences and should probably not be trusted completely on their opinions by that topic.

After reading through your comments on comments I realized that we have very similar thoughts. I like how you brought in your own feelings into the first bullet point about how you live near the border and don't feel afraid about illegal immigrants. Also I very much agree with your statement about how the commenters valued immigrants, however some of them had no respect for immigrants at all. For example the commenter who only talked about dog fighting etc. Overall I agree with your reasonings on the comments.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your post regarding the article. I see Trump's position on this in a neutral position, so I do agree with you on how people are angry that he is one of our candidates for President. I like how you posted the two other articles that closely relate to this subject as well. I believe that taking a neutral standpoint in something like this is the best way to truly analyze something to the fullest.
ReplyDeleteVery thorough. Great insight.
